PATH 16--PEH, an Introduction.
Before moving to the paths that connect the conscious to the superconscious we must address the
path connecting the Rational mind with the Sexual mind. This is path 16 on the Tree of Life and is called
Peh. Peh is associated with the ability to express ourselves. Self expression is a means of transforming
thought to speech. This path is a path of transformation of energy from Rational thought to sexual energy
and radically altering the chemistry of the body and brain. All paths transform one kind of energy to
another as a by-product of their purpose. The purpose of Path 16, Peh, is transformation of idea to
sexuality or the reverse.
According to the Tree of Life, "The sexual energy used by human beings for reproduction is also
used by the Divinity to create and recreate. Anyone too fixated, too emotional, or embarrassed by the
sexual function is not free to use that energy for illumination." The description of the use of this path
continues with, "The sex organs are related to intensity of feelings, our ability to keep going, bravery, and
inspiration." It is also noted that when sex is looked on as ugly or dirty, or somehow not acceptable, that
energy is imprisoned. Imprisoned energies (energy blocks) always damage the body, mind, and spirit.
Such imprisoned energy can block us in just about any way possible. Energy blocks from repressed sexual
and sensual emotional levels can affect any portion of the body, any mental attitude, and will always (all
ways) poison the spirit unless cured.
Path 16 from Hod to Netzach is a tremendously powerful mental and spiritual tool. This power comes
from the full knowledge of your sexual and intellectual powers combined. This path transforms the
intellectual energy of Mercury (Hod) into the sexual energy of Venus (Netzach) by using the transforming
sexual activity of Mars.
This is a Tantric path. Using it always involves having an "open" attitude toward sexuality.
Without overt, functioning sexuality, the path between Rational mind and Sexual mind is closed. When
this happens, sex is divorced from our daily life and becomes a Cinderella of dubious value. When this
path is closed, our attitudes toward sex represent values given us by others and we are incapable of
sustaining new values of sexuality which may go against the publicly stated values our damaged society
holds. Repression is the theme of society.
When under the control of the second brain circuit (Ego), the third circuit will suppress facts to
"prove" whatever the Ego demands is real. The fourth circuit, when controlled by the Ego, will repress
the sexuality of the person. Of course, the opposite may be true. The third circuit may make up facts to
prove a second circuit theory and the fourth circuit may become a run-a-way sexual machine to please the
second circuit Ego.
Comments from the Tree of Life about path 16 speak of bringing the Kundalini to the heart
chakra to increase our capacity to love. It tells how this path helps overcome the fear/rage complex
through personal volition, "We set our body into movement in alignment with our plans,...overcome forms
of limitation," and "Make mental images sharp and clear, then the activity of the Mars force will make
your dreams come true."
The process of awakening may be painful as old ways of behavior and old beliefs are given up or
even shattered by new knowledge and new modes of behavior. The path from Hod to Netzach can be used
in many ways to transform your life. Tantra is not the only method that uses the basic sexual drive and
Mars force to attain some goal. I write here of this path in relationship to Tantra because this book and
study is about Tantra and how it relates to the Tree of Life and because I know Tantra and its
methodology and, in addition, know the Tree of Life and its methodology.
